Hand-me-down skinny jeans, thick-framed glasses, vintage cameras, beards and maroon beanies, selfies, instagram filters, single origin coffee, tumblr blogs and hastags have all become synonymous with the hipster trend worldwide. One place that hipsters have not popped up however is in cartoons and animation movies.
We thought it would be fun to run a contest that invited our virtual design crowd of more than 400,000 designers to recreate famous Disney characters as hipsters. The design brief asked designers to "grab high-res photos of Disney characters, and accessorize them!". Using this infographic by Hipster Approved, designers took to work and the results speak for themselves. Check out the The Little Mermaid's Ariel as a tatooed vintage spectacle wearing selfie-taking creative freelancer from Brooklyn or Snow White as a modern girl with tattoos and a vintage bicycle. Don't miss the Disney family picnic rebranded as 'Hipsneyland' featuring Rapunzle, Cindarella and Pocahontas riding a scooter.
