Is Flat the New Black?
The last couple of years have marked the beginning of a new minimalist design trend. "Flat" design is now a major design paradigm across the design industry. Its secret weapon? Less is More.
'Flat' logo designs typically encompass these attributes: efficiency, impact, minimal composition, maximal results. Color plays a central role. Using colors at their fullest, flat logos are extremely versatile designs. The days of extreme realism or skeuomorphic design dominating graphic design discourse are drawing to a close. And it's not just designers changing their tune, other industries are adopting a flatter design aesthetic.
All of the big tech brands - Microsoft, Google and Apple have developed their own approach to flat design - from grid layouts to card types and modern condensed font-type, flat is fast becoming the new black.
