12 Big Brands Get a Hipster Makeover

When you think of big brands like Nike, McDonald's, Mercedes, Twitter, words like personal, small, local don't leap to mind immediately. But what if your favorite big brand got a hipster makeover? We asked the top freelance logo designers from DesignCrowd's 490,000 strong design crowdsourcing community to give conservative corporate brands a hipster makeover. Twenty-three designers took up the challenge to re-imagine 'big' brands as small, cool and local.

The here's a snippet from the design brief:

Submit the most convincing hipster logo conversion that could make the 'big brand' feel small, or more specifically like a cool Brooklyn-based local.

Typically hipster logos are handmade, personal and often use a badge motif, with decorative elements - think EST for the year the company launched - and vintage typefaces - either minimal and mid-century modern or cursive like Wisdom Script - to reinforce their cultural authenticity and legitimate origins.

Designers were encouraged to add fun hipster signifiers like moustashes, glasses and other accessories. Thanks to the 23 designers who participated submitting over 55 designs between them.
